Guest Post: Trends in Wedding Floral and Decor for 2013

We have decided to switch things up a little bit and let you hear from some other professionals in the "industry." First, we are going to feature Holly of Holly Viles Events and Decor. If you would like to hear from a certain category or would like to submit a guest post we would love to hear from you!

"I strongly believe your wedding should be a true reflection of your personality, trends aside.  But, I also know the value in looking to what is current in the industry so my designs will continue to stay fresh and relevant.  Although many brides come to me with a very clear vision of what they are picturing for their wedding décor and flowers, others may enjoy looking at trends to help them decide the perfect décor for their wedding day.

When seeking out the current trends for floral and wedding décor, I tend to go straight to the runway.  New York bridal market showcased gowns this year that will definitely have an impact on floral design for 2013.   Here are a few of my favorite trends forecasted for 2013 based off the gowns on the runway.

BOLD Colors

Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta went BOLD this year with lots of RED!   I personally can't imagine a large number of brides rushing out to purchase a red gown!  But with all of the red on the runway it is a strong indicator that bold colors will be seen next year, floral and décor included.   Think oranges, hot pink and reds when considering your wedding colors.

Vintage and Old Hollywood Glamour

Vintage is here to stay for a while longer, which makes me very happy!  However, “vintage” can be interpreted in different ways.  I predict less “rustic vintage” and more vintage GLAM!  The runway featured lace gowns adorned with lots of bling which translates to vintage and romantic touches in your wedding décor.  Think birdcage veils, feathers, lots of bling and crystal accents.   Dolly, the 51' Chevy Bel Air pictured below is a local celeb so ask about renting her for your wedding transportation!

Metallics

We also saw metal on the runway for 2013 brides.  Lots of beautiful golds, silvers, and pearly accents.  With metallic colors you could go bold with your wedding colors choosing to pair the metallics with red or black.   Or you could keep it softer and more romantic with creams and blush tones.  I am personally in love with blush and cream floral mixed with the metallic gold.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about a few of my favorite trends for 2013!  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so whatever you decide, stay true to your own personal style and you can not go wrong!  Which leads me to my next blog posting.....  How do you identify your own personal style for your wedding?  Stay tuned!"

  1. Pleased to know about these new trends for wedding floral and décor. Couple of months ago, arranged my cousin’s wedding at one of grand wedding venues Los Angeles and decorated entire venue beautifully.
